French PM Given 48 Hours to Negotiate as Macron Tries to Stave Off Crisis | The Pulse 10/7

Just over 24 hours after resigning, the French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu remains in office, having been asked by President Emmanuel Macron to continue negotiating with the opposition for 48 hours, in an effort to agree a budget. Macron has bought himself time to work out his next steps, which could include fresh legislative elections. French bonds extended their losses as the uncertainty continues. In the US, President Trump opened the door to negotiations on health care with the Democrats, on condition that the government shutdown ends. Donald Trump also announced that 25% tariffs on medium and heavy duty trucks will kick from November 1.
