US Consumer Spending Rises as Inflation Stays Stubborn

US household spending rose 0.5% for the month, the most in four months, while the Federal Reserve’s preferred measure of underlying US inflation, the so-called core personal consumption expenditures price index, rose 0.3% from June and 2.9% from the prior year.
